The St. Louis Board of Health reported that its public comment on board bill 49 included recommendations that the board chair said were also relevant to board bill 48, and officials said the sponsor appreciated the feedback.
"We did get feedback from the sponsoring elder person, which is elder woman Anne Schweitzer, who really appreciated the public comment," Chair Kristen Simpson said, adding that the bills are still being amended and have not received final approval.
The board approved the minutes from its June 18 meeting by motion and voice vote. Dr. Melissa Tapie moved to approve the minutes; a second was recorded and the chair said the motion carried.
Committee chairs also delivered brief updates: Britney Jones summarized community engagement efforts that are distributing Epi Minute videos at community health centers and working with the St. Louis Public Library to extend distribution; April Mickens Jolly said the Governance Committee has received seven survey responses and will convene to develop an onboarding toolkit ahead of year-end.
The chair said interviews for the director of health search are in process and that board members will be updated as the search proceeds. The board adjourned and set its next meeting for Aug. 20.
