Mayor Mike Nealeigh told the Council Ordinance 203 amends Ordinance 200 to raise the New Mexico Environment Department Sewer Overflow and Stormwater Reuse Municipal Grant funding allocation from $230,370 to $1,032,636 by adding $802,266 under the original agreement’s terms. Trustee Robert Wilson moved to adopt Ordinance 203, Trustee Judy Boyd seconded, and the Council approved it by roll call vote.
Ordinance 204 changes Sections 130-5 and 130-28 of the zoning code by adding a definition for “Tiny House” as a dwelling of 400 square feet or less (excluding lofts) and clarifying that tiny houses on permanent chassis with axles are treated as recreational vehicles. Trustee Wilson moved to adopt Ordinance 204; Trustee Manolito Sanchez seconded the motion and the Council again approved the ordinance unanimously.
The Mayor confirmed that both ordinances met local notice requirements, having been advertised for two weeks in the local newspaper and posted on the Village website. No dissenting arguments or roll-call vote breakdown by name were recorded in the meeting minutes; the council’s unanimous approvals were stated by the Mayor during the session.
What happens next: Both ordinances take effect according to the Village’s standard procedures; the Mayor and staff will implement the changes and handle any administrative steps required to apply the increased grant funding to the sewer and stormwater reuse project. The zoning amendment will be enforced through the Village’s permit and Planning and Zoning review processes.
