Planning commission postpones Spanish Fort Mart site plan and two other items

The Spanish Fort Planning Commission postponed three agenda items after staff reported applicants had not completed required steps.
Chair Mayor Bass opened old business on agenda item 260402, an application for site-plan approval for the Spanish Fort Mart C-store at U.S. Highway 31 and Stagecoach Road. Planning staff Casey said the applicant (Sun Engineering and Construction Management Corp., on behalf of Spanish Fort Alabama LLC) is still addressing review comments and "should have everything to us before the next regular meeting," so the commission did not move the item forward.
Two new-business items were also postponed. Agenda item 260701, a special-land-use application for psychic reading and chakra meditations, was postponed because required public notices were not distributed. Agenda item 260702, a preliminary subdivision plat, was postponed at the applicant's request while they await a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers permit for a wetland crossing; staff confirmed notice would be issued when the permit is obtained.
The commission approved prior meeting minutes and made scheduling announcements for an informal work session on July 27 and the next regular meeting on Aug. 10, with an August agenda submission deadline of July 14 at noon. The meeting adjourned without votes on the postponed items.
