HDR briefs Granite County on Flint Creek comprehensive assessment and FERC schedule

HDR consultant Jess Rudd updated the Granite County commissioners on the Flint Creek comprehensive assessment during the July 7 meeting. The team completed an inspection in May and finished risk workshops in June; consultants said findings were generally positive and they are drafting the comprehensive assessment and an accompanying risk report.
Rudd said the draft reports will be provided to county reviewers and to Jeremiah (local participant) for comment before formal submittal to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). After submission, HDR expects a FERC review meeting roughly 45 days later and suggested commissioners pencil in meeting time in February so stakeholders can plan. "Once that is reviewed, then we will submit to FERC later this year…we're in good shape and on schedule," Rudd said.
Commissioners asked about timing, meeting length and whether an in-person county presentation would be scheduled; consultants suggested a focused two-hour FERC review meeting and periodic updates to the county between now and the formal review.
Why it matters: the assessment and FERC review affect reservoir operations and long-term project compliance. The county will have an opportunity to review and comment on recommendations and risk findings before submission.
What’s next: HDR will circulate draft reports to county staff for review and propose possible FERC review dates; the county will coordinate availability and plan a more detailed update in the fall.
