"As soon as this is approved, we can send the deal 41,000 just to design the fire system," the presenter said.
Councilors emphasized the need to do the work correctly rather than quickly to avoid future liability and repeated repairs. The budget adjustment (introduced as resolution 26‑05) was linked to lodging tax / promotional advertising funds and described in discussion as providing approximately $400,000 to address initial repairs and insurance shortfalls.
After questions about sequencing and potential impacts on other projects, council members moved, seconded and recorded 'aye' votes to approve the resolution. Staff said they will engage an engineer and begin the design phase for the fire system and plan phased repairs to skylights, drainage and exterior walls.
