"I do think the part time was too generous," the member said, and recommended staff prepare cost comparisons and comparables from neighboring towns before the board acts.
Alexis and others noted that few municipalities in the county have mandated similar leave and that options include having the municipality absorb costs or mirroring state programs that businesses may opt into. The board agreed to continue the discussion at the next meeting and to gather further information on scope and fiscal impact.
No formal vote was taken on the policy at this meeting.
