Council recognizes Alliance Fire Company for lifesaving response; public-safety metrics reviewed

Red Lion Borough Council on June 8 recognized Alliance Fire Company responders for a lifesaving response to a 15-month-old child who had drowned in a home cooling tub.
Councilmember Mark Holloway highlighted the effort, saying Dylan Wood demonstrated uniform lifespans and acknowledged the fire-house team for responding. Holloway singled out Joe Silar and Derek Eveler for their continued lifesaving work in the ambulance. Council recorded that the Alliance Fire Company received a lifesaving award for the incident.
The public-safety report showed breathing-problem calls declined to 19, and the fire company reported eight overdose calls during the period, five of them within Red Lion Borough. Council authorized the Red Lion School to create a memorandum of understanding to serve as an emergency shelter; Cindy Barley moved the authorization and Evan Heister seconded; the motion carried.
Council also noted FEMA grants already applied for and the fire company's application for an LSA infrastructure grant. The relief audit was reported clear; $2,245.00 will be refunded to the relief fund and the borough's new engine is receiving final equipment mounts.
