Premier Lakes reports maintenance changes; engineer reviews stormwater after Tropical Storm Debbie

Bill Kurth of Premier Lakes told the River Ridge board on Aug. 27 that the lakes "appear to be in very good shape," crews removed fallen trees from the FPL ditch ahead of an expected tropical storm, the Lake H1-B nano-bubbler repair would be completed the following day, and the vendor increased service from quarterly to monthly during the rainy season. He also reported work on preserves and dry retention areas and noted proposals forthcoming for moving a compressor in the Masters Lake; Mr. Shane Willis and Mr. Alex Kurth will present electrical proposals.
District Engineer Charlie Krebs reported that the MRI project to replace Pinehurst valley gutter inlet grates is about 80% complete and he will follow up on the schedule for asphalt patching. He reviewed the stormwater system’s performance after Tropical Storm Debbie: parts of the community received almost 8 inches of rain in two to three days while the road system is designed for about 5½ inches in 24 hours. Krebs said the system reached capacity but flowed unobstructed and suggested The Club could add a drainage connection to E1-A to bypass pipes and inlets and send water to the lake.
A resident expressed a belief that standing water is coming up through their slab and causing mold in their unit; Mr. Krebs said he does not believe the standing water is the cause because other units did not report similar problems and requested Mr. Long to comment at the next meeting. Resident Anita Bachragh asked that a downed tree by River 9 Catch Basin #134 be reinstated and asked that the conservation area be cleared; Mr. Willis asked Ms. Bachragh to send photographs so staff can review and address requests. Christine Mantilia asked about stormwater management permits and whether fire trucks could draw water from the lakes; Mr. Krebs said that would be atypical and "would also require approval from the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD)." Mr. Willis said Mr. Long is scheduling training for the speed sign project and will provide an update at the next meeting.
The Board recorded these maintenance and stormwater items for follow-up; staff will confirm any roadway or curb damage related to recent work and include drainage and compressor proposals in future materials.
