Premier Lakes reports algae and reduces compressor noise; littorals and Edgewater concerns delay plantings

Bill Kurth of Premier Lakes told the River Ridge Board that lakes, preserves and dry retention areas are in good condition overall but that seasonal algae growth has been observed. He said a palm tree at the shoreline of Lake E7A was removed as part of routine maintenance.

Kurth reported the installation of a cabinet around a compressor system at Masters Lake reduced the measured sound level from 64 to 52 decibels, which he characterized as acceptable at the midpoint between the compressor and the screen line. Operations Manager Shane Willis cautioned the Board that "the issue is not so much about the decibels but it is the tone of the aerator," and staff will consider relocating the compressor and report findings at the next meeting.

Chair Bob Schultz summarized flooding concerns in the Edgewater area and recommended scheduling a meeting with Tim Wilkin to seek a mutually acceptable approach to littoral plantings. The Board reached a consensus to avoid Canna lilies and to postpone plantings in Lake E4-A until agreement with the Edgewater Condo Association (through Cambridge Management) is reached.

Why it matters: lake health and noise issues affect resident quality of life and may require operational adjustments or property-owner coordination. Delaying plantings preserves neighbor relations while staff seek a solution.

Next steps: Mr. Willis will coordinate with Bill and Alex Kurth to evaluate relocating the compressor and will report back at the next meeting; staff will hold off on Lake E4-A plantings pending an agreement with the Edgewater Association.
