Bennet schedules April Clean Up Day; council hears street drain, hiring and water-tower bird removal estimates

Council members set the annual Clean Up Day for April 25, 2026, from 8 a.m. to noon and encouraged council participation. Utility Superintendent Zach Fergus reported personnel and operations updates: Ricky Skillett has been hired as Public Works Worker I and started at the end of February, and recent water and wastewater tests were approved by the labs.
Fergus also discussed options and an estimated cost — about $300 — to remove roosting turkey vultures from the water tower. The council did not vote on funding for that removal at this meeting; staff will return with estimates included in future budget or project plans.
