The planning, zoning and economic development committee reported several items for upcoming council consideration.
Evan Hiester said the borough's sign ordinance has been advertised and will be ready for approval at the June 8 council meeting. Committee members discussed rental inspection no-shows — cases where an owner schedules an inspection and then does not appear — and whether to increase the proposed fee (one member said $25 is not enough). Ms. Phillips suggested a higher fee and adding a reinspection charge; the group agreed to consult the solicitor on legal limits for fee amounts and to update the fee schedule as needed.
Committee members also confirmed the Farmers Market will be held June 20 at Fairmount Park and that banners and signage have been ordered. The committee reported the 'Day of Service' event went well.
No formal ordinance votes were taken at the work session; staff will return with solicitor guidance and the sign ordinance expected for formal consideration at the next council meeting.
