Bennet council to pursue community center financing and reintroduce childcare foundation for grant work

At the March 9 meeting Mayor Ryan Cheney introduced a review of the Civic and Community Center Financing Fund (CCCFF) with the Nebraska Department of Economic Development and the reintroduction of the Bennet Palmyra Childcare Foundation at the request of Council Member Jesse Schmidt.
Schmidt told the council he will begin working on the CCCFF grant process and will seek assistance from other organizations to prepare any application materials. City officials did not adopt a formal resolution or make a funding commitment at this meeting; the discussion established next steps for grant development and a plan to return with more detail.
City Attorney David Solheim presented other right-of-way business and said he will amend the Quincy Street draft agreements and present them at the April meeting, a follow-up the council noted as part of next steps for community projects.
