Planning commission recommends council approve David Evans proposal for portions of Lots 11–14
Summary

The Cordova Planning Commission voted on March 10, 2026 to recommend that the city council approve the proposal from David Evans to lease or purchase portions of Lots 11, 12, 13 and 14, Block 32 (original town site).
A motion to recommend approval was made and seconded; commissioners discussed practical issues that should be addressed in subsequent negotiations, including reserving Skihill Road with public works, replat/resurvey procedures and a drainage ditch on the south side of the property that may require culvert work or reconfiguration before building can proceed. Several commissioners said those infrastructure and drainage concerns must be resolved in the contract negotiation phase.
Commissioners also noted the proposal meets applicable zoning requirements as described in the staff memo and that a resurvey and replat would precede any development. After discussion, the commission voted in favor of the recommendation; the chair recorded that five commissioners supported the motion.
The commission instructed staff to include the noted concerns—road coordination, drainage mitigation and resurvey/replat steps—in the recommendation packet to the city council. The final decision to sell or lease the parcels rests with the city council once it has received the planning commission’s recommendation and supporting documentation.
