Monroe council approves concession operator agreement, accepts donations and enters executive session

The Monroe Town Council on July 13 amended its agenda and then voted unanimously to adopt Resolution 26-070, authorizing Terrence B. Rooney to execute a concession operator agreement between the town and This and That LLC.

The chair moved to add Resolution 26-070 to new business and the council approved the agenda amendment before taking up the item. During discussion a council member thanked resident Felicia Anzalone for connecting the prospective operator to town officials; the council described the owners as eager to begin serving food at the newly improved patio and fenced area.

Council member Bauer said she had reviewed the contract and the town attorney's memorandum and that, had the item gone to the usual LNA review, she would have consented to pass the contract as presented. The council then adopted Resolution 26-070 by a 6-0 vote.

Earlier in the new-business segment the council accepted donations that individually exceeded $1,500: $1,500 from Brown Monument Works and $1,500 from Norwalk Veterinary Hospital to support Monroe Night Out. Vice Chair Sherry Wales moved to accept the donations; the motion carried.

Following the votes the council voted to enter executive session to discuss the potential acquisition and renovation of real property at 818 Shelton Road and 706 Monroe Turnpike, inviting town attorney Frank Lido and representatives Terrence (Terry) Rooney, Ron Banoski and Rebecca O'Donnell. The council entered executive session by unanimous vote; upon return the chair reported there were no votes taken during executive session and the meeting adjourned at 8:34 p.m.
