The city attorney told the committee staff learned that the originally scheduled boat race may not go forward as planned but recommended keeping the authorizations on the agenda so an alternate event or a rescheduled race could proceed. He emphasized that the resolutions are authorizing documents rather than directives and that impacted beaches and streets could remain open if not needed.
Committee members expressed support for keeping options open while recognizing uncertainty about whether the event will proceed. The committee approved both authorizing resolutions by voice vote.
The committee set a tentative next meeting date of July 27, 2026, and adjourned.
