The Sheboygan City Public Works Committee on July 27 authorized a purchase order for a 2027 Timco 600 street sweeper for the city's motor-vehicle division.
Jacob Lesser, fleet manager at the Department of Public Works, told the committee the purchase replaces a 2010 unit and had been included in the 2026 capital improvement budget. He said the department's goal is to operate three street sweepers daily from April until the fall leaf season, with the new unit helping the city maintain that level of service.
“Adding a third unit of the same will benefit the city and allow us to expand our our sweeping operation,” Lesser said. He noted staffing fluctuations sometimes reduce active sweepers but that the replacement will help maintain three sweepers during peak periods.
The committee approved the purchase authorization by voice vote.
