Town Administrator Aitken told the council the contractor has completed prep and grading for Plat 5 and that a tar order would be placed imminently; chip-seal work is expected to begin the following week beginning on Vista, then Plat 21 and concluding with Plat 5.
On water infrastructure, Aitken reported SCADA tanks are operational after a firmware update and that a replacement motherboard for Well 3 is in transit after a vendor staffing change delayed shipment. Water sample pH tested between 7.6 and 7.8; the town learned the initially recommended chlorine pumps are incompatible with the well-house PSI and returned the matter to the vendor for revised recommendations.
Green Canyon Road was discussed at length. Administrator Aitken said the road has three water lines with one only 18 inches deep and other subsurface complications. A comprehensive engineering fix is estimated at approximately $200,000. As a short-term stabilizing measure the council agreed to add road rock at an estimated cost of about $8,000, to be drawn from existing roadside maintenance budget lines.
Council members and advisory boards are updating road-prioritization lists. The Roads Advisory Board presented three rating scales (aggregate, chip seal, asphalt) and recommended directing $500,000 in next year’s budget toward road base improvements.
Next steps: chip-seal operations are scheduled to start the following week; administration will procure vendor revisions for the chlorine pumps and proceed with the $8,000 road-rock stabilizing work on Green Canyon Road.
