The Minot‑Sleeper Library Board of Trustees unanimously appointed Jess Ross as the library director at its May 28, 2026 meeting after a hiring committee completed multiple interviews and reference checks.
Heidi Jeffrey, who reported on the search process, said the hiring committee (Karen Boyd, Sue Nieman, Scott Thompson, Peggy Litz and Cindy Westfall) interviewed four candidates via Google Meet and invited an additional applicant for further evaluation. The finalist returned for an in‑person interview, completed two scenario exercises and had references checked; "references were contacted and very positive," the record states.
Karen Boyd moved to appoint Jess Ross as the new library director; Brenda Buchanan seconded the motion and the board voted in favor. The board did not record individual roll‑call votes in the minutes; the motion passed by unanimous consent.
Trustees discussed next steps for onboarding. Heidi Jeffrey recommended adding the new director to the Capital Improvement Committee and encouraged the director to join Rotary, noting annual dues have been paid. The board also identified related administrative follow‑ups including signatory changes and a review of policies and procedures.
The board scheduled its next regular meetings for June 25 and July 23, 2026 and adjourned at 5:30 PM.
Minutes for the meeting were submitted by Sue Nieman on behalf of Secretary Peggy Moriarty‑Litz.
