Falmouth 250 committee finalizes summer schedule, sets July 1 plaque dedication

The Falmouth 250 Committee met on Feb. 11, 2026, at the Museum on the Green to review upcoming programming and logistical plans for spring and summer events.

Committee members reviewed a schedule that includes a March 26 lecture on the Battle of Falmouth, an April 9 calligraphy lecture by former White House calligrapher Rick Pallus, a May 21 lecture on Globalizing the American Revolution, a June 4 exhibition opening, a July 1 commemorative plaque dedication at Falmouth Heights, Community Day activities on July 3 and a July 16 lecture on Cape Cod and the Islands. The committee decided to reach out to local organizations to invite participation and explore programming at Oak Grove Cemetery.

The group set a goal to have commemorative banners installed from June 29 through Aug. 2, 2026, and agreed to check with Town officials about requirements and approvals before proceeding with production or installation. Committee members discussed logistics for the July 1 plaque dedication at Falmouth Heights, including attendees to invite, stakeholder notifications, ceremony timing, accessibility and potential speakers.

Members also discussed the Liberty Tree Society program and agreed to work with Town staff to determine an appropriate elm (size and type) and a suitable site for planting or siting a commemorative tree.

The committee approved minutes from Oct. 15, 2025, and Jan. 14, 2026; the minutes do not record a roll-call vote or vote tally. The committee scheduled its next meeting for Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Museum on the Green and adjourned at 2:46 p.m.
