Zionsville Community Schools honors teachers, longtime staff and retirees

President Katherine Aeschliman opened the Zionsville Community Schools Board of School Trustees meeting on May 11 by inviting district leaders to present the 2026 staff recognitions.
Superintendent Rebecca Coffman, Director of Human Resources Robyn Nelson, principals and Community Engagement Lead Lynn Kissel introduced the school-level Teachers of the Year, including Melissa Tuttila (Boone Meadow Elementary), Sarah Mackowiak (Eagle Elementary) and Dawn Makley (Zionsville Community High School), who was also selected as District Teacher of the Year by a community committee and will represent the district at the state level.
The board presented employee service awards for 10-, 20-, 30- and 40-year milestones and acknowledged a long list of staff members by name. The board also read and honored retirements across the district, naming classroom teachers, specialists and support staff who will leave their posts at the end of the year; Julie Parks was noted as deceased and was represented by her husband for the recognition.
Board President Aeschliman thanked employees and staff who prepared the recognition event. The acknowledgments were ceremonial and informational; no board action was required.
