St John Sanitary District approves sewer credits and two vouchers, hears plant capacity concerns

It also approved two sewer-credits totaling $287.29 — $161.84 for Trina Lane and $125.45 for 14629 South Quartz — after a motion and second. The board approved an accounts-payable voucher for the sanitary district totaling $32,298.25 for payroll, supplies, services and equipment, and separately approved a wastewater-utility voucher totaling $554,647.88 for similar categories. Each motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.
Why it matters: The approved payments and credits are part of routine fiscal oversight, but officials also discussed longer-term capacity challenges at the wastewater plant that could affect service and funding decisions for parts of St John.
Study and capacity concerns: The Chair reported that board members and staff recently toured a wastewater plant and said the facility is near capacity after recent storms. "There's some definitely some things that the board is gonna have to look at here in the future, as far as capacity," the Chair said, and added that expansion may be required within a couple of years. The Chair said some of that information "may come out in the study that Robinson is doing," and that the board should have a clearer picture within about six months.
Public comment and next steps: No members of the public spoke during the public-comment period. Staff said a proposal for a sanitary sewer study is undergoing quality-assurance review and will be provided to the board prior to being placed on a future agenda. The board adjourned after the items were concluded.
