Airport hangar installed but seal problem may delay completion, staff says

Hector, speaking to the council, said the airport hangar door has been installed and the facility is heated and in use, but the bifold door is not seating the final two inches to create a weather seal. He said the issue may require re‑welding and grinding and that crews are working with the contractor to resolve it at no additional contract cost.
Hector also reported that the pad for fuel‑truck containment and the covering for fuel pumps are complete and only minor painting remains. He said the hangar has been cleaned out and praised advisory‑committee input on a leasing fee schedule; staff plans to present a draft fee/leasing schedule in a few weeks to allow initial lessees preferential terms during a multi‑year build‑out period.
On FAA matters, Hector said the village had not yet received word on a sponsorship transfer and that he planned to contact the federal airports division in Washington for a status update. He apologized to the council and residents that the transfer and final work were not yet completed and asked for patience as staff pursues the remaining items.
