Hanover board approves retirements, resignations and staff training attendance

The Hanover Public School District Board of Education on March 23 approved several personnel changes and one professional development request.
The board unanimously accepted the retirement of Julie Miller, kindergarten teacher at Hanover Street Elementary, effective at the end of the 2025'026 school year; the agenda notes she will retire with 21 years of service. The board also approved the retirement of James Myers, part-time custodian at Hanover High School, effective May 29, 2026; the agenda states he will retire with almost three years of service. Mrs. Shea moved the retirements and Mrs. Keeney seconded; the motion passed 8-0.
Separately, the board accepted resignations from Sophia Harris (Health Room Assistant/LPN, Washington Elementary), effective March 24, 2026; Marie Willey (Music Teacher, Hanover Street Elementary), effective at the end of 2025'026; and Rebecca Glusco (Learning Support/Math Teacher, Hanover High School), effective March 10, 2026. Mrs. Shea made the motion to approve the resignations and Mr. Lippy seconded; the vote was 8-0.
The board also authorized Kelly Abell to attend a Professional Crisis Management Instructor course in Oviedo, Florida (March 31'April 3, 2026); Mrs. Smith moved the request, Mrs. Rice seconded and it passed 8-0.
These personnel actions were entered on the consent agenda and approved without amendment.
