Hanover board approves York County tech budget, capital projects and posts clean audit

The Hanover Public School District Board of Education on March 23 approved several finance items, including the revised York County School of Technology budget for 2026–27, multiple capital reserve projects and accepted the district's independent financial audit, all by unanimous 8-0 votes.
Mrs. Keeney, a board member, moved to approve the York County School of Technology revised 2026–2027 budget not to exceed $39,449,568, which lists $26,025,000 in member contributions and estimates Hanover's share at $427,770 based on 25.98 students. Mr. Lippy seconded the motion; the board approved it on a roll-call vote of 8-0.
The board also approved General Fund check registers totaling $1,197,679.16 and cafeteria disbursements of $37,208.50, for a combined total of $1,234,887.66. Mrs. Shea moved the check-register approval and Mrs. Gulden seconded; the motion passed 8-0.
Mrs. Gulden moved to authorize Capital Reserve Fund projects for 2026; Mr. Lippy seconded and the vote was 8-0. The board then received the Independent Financial Audit Report for fiscal year 2024–2025, prepared by Smith Elliott Kearns and Company, LLC, which the record shows had no findings and will be posted to the district website.
Board members did not request amendments to the budgets during the meeting. The approved York County School of Technology budget documents note the district's estimated cost is up about 4.56% from the adjusted 2025–2026 figure. The district indicated the audit will be made available under School Board and Annual Financial Reports on the district website.
The board adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
