Officials said the 3rd South project is at partial design and, if funded, construction might be about three years out (award, final design, then construction).
Residents at the hearing pressed for wider sidewalk coverage, a hashed pedestrian crossing near Gateway Drive to help students walk to school, clarification about right‑of‑way (2nd West is a county road), and intersection control (two‑way vs. four‑way stop). Staff said the city uses traffic counters to prioritize projects, will coordinate with the county and UDOT as needed, and that some project phases may be limited by funding.
Staff encouraged adjacent property owners to meet one‑on‑one with engineers for parcel‑level concerns and committed to posting design materials and contact information online. The council will decide at a future meeting whether to submit the COG applications.
