The Planning Commission recommended approval of a general-plan amendment to change a parcel at 362 West / 3650 South from low-density residential to neighborhood commercial/office (NCOM) and also recommended forwarding a companion rezoning request to the City Council to change zoning from R112 to Administrative Professional (AP).
Staff explained the parcel became isolated from other residential lots after a realignment of George Washington Boulevard and that the site fronts both George Washington Boulevard and 3650 South. "Staff supports the AP type uses at this location," Eldon said, noting the AP designation would allow administrative and professional uses compatible with adjacency to a church and limited nighttime activity.
Staff also confirmed separate mailed notices were sent for the general-plan amendment and the zoning change. Commissioners had no substantive objections; motions recommending approval of both the general-plan amendment (G-26-02) and the zone change (Z-26-13) passed on voice votes. Commissioners Davis, Mitchell, Yer and Bullock were recorded as voting in favor. Both items will proceed to City Council for final action.
