"We are going in the process of becoming a 5 0 1 c 19 charitable entity," Harmon said, and described donations and proposed projects including hardscape work and monument area improvements. He asked the board to approve the letter reviewed by counsel.
A motion to accept the letter was made, seconded, and the board voted in favor. The board asked Sue (town staff) to sign the letter and serve as the point of contact for future correspondence. Board members discussed replacing a named mowing company reference in the draft with the broader term "mowing contractor" to avoid naming a contractor in a multiyear procurement process.
The board’s acceptance authorizes the veterans group to proceed with plans to maintain the two parks under the terms described in the letter; the group will follow up with counsel and submit final paperwork as it pursues tax‑exempt status.
