"We're talking we're looking at the front lawn of our fabulous town hall," Thomasett said, describing plans to remove tall shrubs that hide the building, add hardscape or brick near the marquee so people stepping up have solid footing, and plant drought‑resistant species. She said the water department supports a rain‑barrel initiative to reduce irrigation.
Board members voiced support but requested a concrete design with dimensions and cost estimates before granting a green light. One board member suggested the project could be supported if returned with "numbers, dimensions, [and] a suggestion on what you're gonna use for a product for the hardscape." Thomasett said the club will follow up with a more detailed plan and consult with community members about any memorial plantings in the flagpole garden.
The item was treated as an informational proposal; no formal vote was taken. The board encouraged the Garden Club to return with design sketches and estimates for formal consideration.
