Hanover Public SD highlights 'Nighthawk Talks' initiative and introduces new teachers

Superintendent Dr. John Scola told the board on May 11 that 'Nighthawk Talks,' the district’s new TED-style showcase, was a "rousing success" with about 400 people in attendance and several recordings ready for publication.
Dr. Scola said three talks have been recorded so far — Elementary Spanish, Drone Technology, and F‑1 Racing — and that the district plans up to 18 recordings to post on the district website and YouTube as part of teacher and program recruitment. He credited district staff for the effort and noted David Fry’s role in editing the presentations.
Assistant to the Superintendent Dr. Susan Seiple provided operational updates, listing Keystone assessment dates for high school Biology (May 12–13), Literature (May 14–15) and Algebra (May 19–20), plus Middle School Algebra I (May 13–14). Dr. Seiple also summarized summer programming offerings — Little Hawks Day Camp, Elementary Summer Academies, High School Credit Recovery, STEAM camps and ESY — and introduced a group completing the district’s two‑year New Teacher Induction program: Lisa Kalagassy, Drake Myers, Madeline Hilditch, Megan Williamson, Austin Plotica and Kinser Laughman.
The presentations were informational and did not require board votes. The superintendent closed by noting the district’s continuing emphasis on showcasing programs as a recruitment tool.
