The Whittier City Council voted Oct. 14 to create an Ad Hoc Committee on Homelessness and appointed Mayor Joseph A. Vinatieri and Council Member Mary Ann Pacheco to serve. The motion to appoint the two members was moved by Council Member Cathy Warner and seconded by Council Member Fernando Dutra, and the motion carried unanimously.
City Manager Conal McNamara presented the staff recommendation to establish the committee. The council did not take further formal actions during the meeting on funding or a specific workplan; staff will return with any recommended scope, timeline and reporting structure as needed.
