At its Jan. 21 meeting the Piedmont City Council approved payment of bills totaling $1,107,229.77, passed two council resolutions and authorized several administrative and capital items.
Richard Williams moved and Caleb Pope seconded approval of the bills totaling $1,107,229.77; the council approved payment as presented. Terry Kiser moved to approve Resolution 2025-01 (seconded by Richard Williams) and the motion carried. David Ivey moved to approve Resolution 2025-02 (seconded by Richard Williams) and the motion carried.
Clerk Hinton said Sandra Keener had asked about purchasing two new vehicles for the Piedmont Health Care Authority; Terry Kiser moved to approve the purchase, Richard Williams seconded and the motion carried. Clerk Hinton also said trail paving should begin Feb. 3, 2025, and that street paving was complete except for painting stop bars. The council was asked to consider a price for 10 acres in the Industrial Park and a monthly rental rate for a small city-owned building on the Chief Ladiga Trail.
Jeff Formby asked the council to change the Recreation Board meeting dates to quarterly. Caleb Pope moved to make the change, Terry Kiser seconded and the motion carried. Jeff also reported strong registration and event planning at the recreation desk.
