At its Oct. 28 meeting the Whittier City Council approved a broad consent calendar that included several contract awards, notices of completion and a staffing change.
Notable consent actions recorded in the minutes: • Bailey Street Sewer Replacement (Item 8.E): The Council awarded a construction contract to Ramona, Inc., in the amount of $674,750, rejected the other bids, authorized the Executive Director to execute the contract on behalf of the Whittier Utility Authority and approved $67,475 in contingency funding. • Whittier Boulevard at Colima Road Intersection Improvements (Item 8.F): The Council authorized the City Manager to execute a Professional Services Agreement with Kimley‑Horn and Associates, Inc. for engineering services for a fee not to exceed $160,000 and adopted Resolution No. 2025‑56 to amend the budget for subventions and grants. Council Member Cathy Warner recused herself from this item. • Easement at Parnell Park (Item 8.J): The Council approved a grant of easement to Southern California Edison for underground electrical distribution and authorized the City Manager to sign the easement. • Notices of Completion (Items 8.M and 8.N): The Council accepted completion of the Murphy Reservoir Improvement Project and the Painter Avenue Wall Repair Project and authorized filing of Notices of Completion on behalf of the Whittier Utility Authority. • Senior Fleet Mechanic Position (Item 8.O): The Council authorized the temporary addition of one Senior Fleet Mechanic position and adopted Resolution No. 2025‑57 amending the FY 2025‑26 Budget to add the position to Public Works.
