The Whittier City Council on April 22 authorized the Interim City Manager to execute an agreement to acquire real property at 14590 Whittier Boulevard to expand park space and adopted Resolution No. 2025-16 to add a supplemental appropriation of up to $55,000 from the Park Impact Reserve Fund for acquisition-related expenses.
Interim City Manager Shannon DeLong and Public Works Director Kyle Cason answered councillors’ questions about the process and timeline to establish the park and the planned use of Quimby fees for park improvements. Council Member Fernando Dutra moved the authorization; Council Member Mary Ann Pacheco seconded the motion and the vote carried unanimously.
City staff indicated next steps include executing the acquisition agreement and returning to Council with a project schedule and specifics about how Park Impact Reserve (Quimby) funds will be applied to park planning and improvements.
