The Zoning Board of Appeals granted a variance allowing Kelly McAvoy to expand portions of her driveway on Seton Road to approximately one-half foot from the property line, a departure from the 5-foot setback otherwise required by zoning.
McAvoy told the board she had documentation from the prior owner and a neighbor indicating the driveway was poured in 1976 and provided notarized letters to support the claim. She said the work would align the final sections of the driveway with existing areas to ease winter access and reduce the need to angle into the street.
Board members acknowledged the driveway’s long-standing condition and decided not to require cutting back the existing pavement. A motion to grant the requested variance was made and seconded and the board voted to approve the variance as requested. McAvoy thanked the board and said she could now move forward with the work.
The board did not attach special conditions beyond the standard permitting process; the applicant was instructed to coordinate required permits with the building department.
