The Whittier City Council on Nov. 13 authorized Council Member Cathy Warner to participate remotely under Government Code Section 54953(f), voting 4-0 with Council Member Mary Ann Pacheco absent. Mayor Joseph A. Vinatieri called the special session to order at 6:00 p.m. at Whittier City Hall.
Council Member Cathy Warner asked to attend remotely under the medical ‘just cause’ exception in Government Code Section 54953(f) and disclosed that while there were people in her household, “none of them would be in the room where she would participate from.” The council approved remote participation by a roll-call vote recorded as 4-0.
The meeting then recessed into a closed session under Government Code Section 54957 for a public employee matter identified as Personnel Board Appeal Resolution No. 23-01. City Clerk Rigoberto Garcia Jr. reported after the closed session that there was “nothing to report out of closed session.”
The special meeting included a roll call showing Mayor Joseph A. Vinatieri, Mayor Pro Tem Octavio Martinez, and Council Members Fernando Dutra and Cathy Warner present; Council Member Mary Ann Pacheco was listed as absent.
