Fairhope staff and council narrow preferred site for 181 lift station on County Road 13

City staff presented site options for a new lift station tied to the Forest Main project and asked the council to consider dedicating a portion of park property along County Road 13 for the facility.
Staff explained three options: Option 1 would locate the structure out of public view; Option 2 would place it near the roundabout (immediately rejected as too visible); and Option 3 would put it at the far corner of the property but would require running additional transmission mains and could create a long-haul connection for future development.
Council members expressed a preference for Option 1 — placed near the west/corner of the parcel — and suggested screening with shrubs, trees and fencing so the lift station would not be visually intrusive. One council member noted the master plan had reserved nearby acreage for future hotel or vendor development and urged coordination to avoid conflicting land uses.
Staff said they would adjust the preferred location to the left/west corner as discussed and bring formal dedication language and final maps to the next council meeting for action.
