Nevada council approves $30,000 for iCan Shine bike and swim camps

The Nevada Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities Executive Committee approved up to $30,000 to support iCan Shine bike and swim camps scheduled for June 2026, the committee said at its April 9 meeting.
Catherine Nielsen, executive director, told the committee the council had previously approved $32,000 but that the bike camp’s date change from March to June reduced costs. Nielsen said flyers for both the bike and swim camps will be shared with council members.
Stacy Alaribe moved to change the approved financial support to up to $30,000; Autumn Blattman seconded. The motion carried unanimously. Committee members present who voted in favor were Anna Marie Binder (Chair), Stacy Alaribe, Autumn Blattman and Vickie Ives.
The committee noted the camps are planned for June 2026; staff will distribute program flyers and follow up with logistics. The Executive Committee set its next meeting for May 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. via Zoom.
