Fairport commission introduces new billing manager, approves draft May financials and authorizes vouchers

Staff presented the May 2026 draft financials at the July Fairport Municipal Commission meeting and reminded commissioners the figures are provisional until the audit concludes in August and two actuarial inputs (New York State pension updates and other post‑employment benefits) are finalized.
Staff said the fiscal year returned about $1,700,000, which staff plans to invest back into plant assets and depreciate over their useful life. The financial software implemented last June included a customer portal that staff said has reduced receivables year over year.
A commissioner moved to approve the May financial report and the June forecast; the motion was seconded and the commission voted in favor. The vote was recorded verbally as "Aye." The commission also moved to authorize payment of circulated vouchers; that motion passed by recorded aye votes.
Before the finance discussion staff introduced Ryan Mervindez as the new billing manager and Lindsey Zuber as a summer intern supporting the billing office while staffing needs are evaluated. The commission welcomed both to their roles.
The commission set its next meeting for Monday, Aug. 10 and adjourned after recognizing staff for storm response efforts.
