Pool open, trails cleared and fire hall needs noted as Wanamingo staff prep for summer events

Brad Kennedy updated the council on parks and public-works operations on June 8, saying the city pool is running for the season after a main leak repaired last fall reduced water loss and that seasonal pool-staff safety training was scheduled for June 8.
Kennedy said staff removed fallen trees from the main nature trail and mowed the trail, though several downed trees remain on side trails and will require additional cutting. He reported the brush pile was removed by Kennedy Groundworks with an invoice submitted to Mead Johnson for reimbursement. Staff have installed 4th of July welcome and light-pole banners and begun mowing and trimming around town; Kennedy said weekly goals include emptying Main Street garbage containers and sweeping Main Street on alternating weeks.
“The pool seems to be running well,” Kennedy said.
After the council recessed, members convened at the fire hall at 7:55 p.m. for a walkthrough led by Wanamingo Fire Chief Parker Erickson and assistant chiefs Brandon Lunde and Josh Revland, who highlighted facility and equipment capital improvement needs.
