Council President Pro Tem Adrian Simmons invites ideas to make Goody Park a destination, raises rebuilding a Riverfront Park bridge

Council President Pro Tem Adrian Simmons said he is collecting resident ideas to make Laurel more of a destination, citing two proposals he has logged: adapting Goody Park with small retail or food vendors facing the park, and rebuilding a pedestrian bridge to extend Riverfront Parks trail into neighboring Howard County.

Simmons described the bridge concept as a way to create a circuit that would link Riverfront Park to High Ridge Park in Howard County and allow trail users to travel under an existing highway bridge toward Anne Arundel County. He said residents raised the examples after visits to other towns and parks and that the ideas are part of broader, long-term planning conversations.

He urged residents to share ideas and said he is logging submissions to synthesize them for future discussion. Simmons noted the scope of such projects would likely require interjurisdictional coordination with Howard and Anne Arundel counties and additional planning and funding steps.
