The Danville City School Board confirmed two personnel appointments at its June 4 meeting: Wayne L. Mayo as director of behavioral health and wellness and Tabitha Cash as principal of Schoolfield Elementary.
The superintendent introduced Wayne L. Mayo, citing roughly 30 years of educational leadership and two decades as a principal at elementary, middle and high school levels. The superintendent noted Mr. Mayo’s work implementing MTSS and improving attendance, behavior and academic outcomes at Bonner, and described his prior turnaround experience and educational credentials (bachelor’s in mathematics education; master’s in school administration; participation in a university leadership program). Miss Walker moved to approve the appointment and Miss McLaughlin seconded; the board voted unanimously to appoint Mr. Mayo.
Doctor Harrison introduced Tabitha Cash for principal of Schoolfield Elementary, describing more than 20 years in public education, experience as an instructional supervisor and literacy specialist, and advanced degrees including a master’s in education and an educational leadership endorsement. Miss McLaughlin moved to approve the recommendation and Miss Cunningham seconded; the board voted unanimously to appoint Ms. Cash.
Both appointees were asked to come forward for recognition and photos before the meeting adjourned.
