School board approves Title I–V grant applications and a Title IV to II transfer

The Danville City School Board voted unanimously on June 4 to approve the submission of multiple federal grant applications and an internal Title IV-to-Title II fund transfer.
Miss Green presented preliminary allocations for 2026–27 and described proposed uses. She said the district’s preliminary Title I, Part A allocation is $4,718,360 and that the final amount will be announced in the fall. The Title I application includes supplemental instructional salaries, after-school tutoring and transportation, professional development, parent and family engagement activities and other allowable activities. Miss Green requested board approval to submit the Title I cover page to the Virginia Department of Education by the July 1, 2026 deadline; the board approved the request (motion by Miss McLaughlin, second by Miss Cunningham).
Miss Green said Danville’s preliminary Title II, Part A allocation is $415,973 and that funds will support instructional salaries and stipends, licensure and endorsement supports, and professional development; the board approved submission. She reported the preliminary Title III, Part A allocation is $40,736 and asked for approval to submit that application; the board approved it. For Title IV, Miss Green said the district plans to transfer Title IV, Part A funds ($373,411 reported as last year’s allocation) into Title II activities to better align professional development and instructional supports; the board approved the transfer request. Finally, Miss Green presented Title V, Part B funding (reported as $194,340) for supplemental instructional salaries and stipends and the board approved that application as well.
All of the grant cover pages were authorized for signature and will be submitted to the Virginia Department of Education by the stated 07/01/2026 submission date. No board members recorded dissent; motions and unanimous roll-call votes were recorded on the transcript for each grant item.
