Cache County Council scheduled a public hearing for July 28 on Resolution 20 26-24, which would open and amend the county’s 2026 budget, and clarified procedural steps after a series of appropriations meetings produced differing amendment versions.
County staff explained the appropriations committee had posted an earlier amendment (Resolution 20 26-21) but later met and approved updated amendments; staff advised the council not to pass the earlier resolution because Utah code requires a five‑day public notice period for budget amendments. The chair therefore set a hearing for July 28 on the updated resolution (20 26-24) and asked the public to attend that meeting for substantive comment.
Utah State representative Richie Call, who attended to speak on a separate appropriations matter, was told his topic was not properly noticed for the current hearing and was invited to appear at the July 28 hearing when the item will be considered. Council members agreed to continue the matter to the next scheduled hearing to ensure proper notice and public comment.
The council also momentarily opened and closed the public hearing portion to clear up procedural confusion and then proceeded to the resolution portion of the agenda.
