Fort Edwards plans downtown summer event, expanded garage sale logistics and banner sales

At the Feb. 25, 2026 meeting, Director of Public Works Martinson told the committee the village is coordinating a late-August downtown event with local business participation and sponsorship. He said he met with an organizer, Fidel, and the proposed date is Saturday, Aug. 29 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.; the village will provide picnic tables, trash cans and signage while businesses and sponsors organize activities.
Martinson also reported preparations for the village-wide garage sale, saying Goodwill committed three trucks because two trucks filled up quickly last year. "They said 2 trucks wasn't enough, so they're bringing 3 Goodwill trucks," he said, and he is working on restroom sponsorship and logistics.
On promotional efforts, Martinson said five banners have been sold to date, and the village is pushing to reach eight to 10 banner sales before the campaign ends; he plans another social-media push and website posting. The committee had no other business and scheduled the next regular meeting for the last Wednesday of the month at 4 p.m.
Procedural note: the committee approved the Feb. 25, 2026 consent agenda and the Jan. 28, 2026 minutes by voice vote at the start of the meeting.
