Planning Board waives hearing, approves EV charging plan at Hampton Inn site

The Town of Newburgh Planning Board on Nov. 6 waived a public hearing and granted conditional approval for an amended site plan installing EV charging at the Hampton Inn property filed by Reade Hotel Capital (project 25-24).
Paul Simihtis, P.E., said the chargers are 40 kW, load-managed and served by a 200-amp service; the hotel will not own the chargers outright but will operate under an agreement with the provider. "They are 40, but they are going to be load-managed. We are only going to provide a 200-amp," Simihtis said. Pat Hines confirmed an Orange County local determination had no comments and indicated the plan had already been circulated to county planning.
Dominic Cordisco noted that SEQRA classified the project as a Type II action and recommended conditional approval; the board voted unanimously to grant approval subject to payment of fees and standard conditions and to receipt of signed plans for the record.
