Temple Select Board approves septage agreement, accepts $3,000 church donation; delays decision on Rowe permit

TEMPLE, N.H. — The Town of Temple Select Board approved several routine items at its June 23 meeting, accepted a $3,000 donation from the Congregational Church and accepted the resignation of the Select Board assistant, while deferring action on a separate resident building-permit application.
The board unanimously approved renewal of Temple’s domestic septage agreement with the town of Merrimack; Chair Ken Caisse said the renewal carries no cost to Temple. The board also voted to accept a $3,000 donation from the Congregational Church given in lieu of taxes.
The board approved a building permit application for an addition at a Sugar Maple Properties site and approved a request to send a letter to the Trustees of the Trust Fund asking them to move money from the highway building fund to pay invoices that have been received.
Chair Caisse announced the Select Board assistant will retire in August. Caisse moved to accept the letter of resignation with regret; the motion was seconded by Clayton Lennartz and approved unanimously. Caisse and George Willard thanked Carole Singelais for her years of service; Singelais’s name also appears on the meeting minutes as the person who submitted them.
On an unrelated matter, resident Nick Rowe said at public comment that he feels his building permit application is being held up and said the previous meeting implied he had something to hide by not allowing a site visit. Chair Caisse said Rowe submitted additional documents but items are still missing and the board declined to vote on the Rowe-Hill Road permit at the meeting; Caisse said he will no longer handle communications with Rowe by phone after a contentious call.
Other routine items approved by unanimous vote included acceptance of meeting minutes from June 9, approval of an occupancy permit for Guy/Beal (the final inspection found no deck or siding at this time and entrances to the decks were closed) and signatures to finalize the trustees transfer request. The board set its next meeting for July 14, 2026 and adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
