Historical Society authorized to seek up to $25,000 grant for Lisbon Town Hall feasibility study

Andrea Fitzgerald of the Lisbon Historical Society told the Board of Selectmen on March 30 that she is working with Michelle Morin Gery from NNC to pursue a grant of up to $25,000 to pay for a feasibility study of the Town Hall. She said the grant would cover fees tied to CDBG requirements and that feasibility reviews rarely recommend demolition.
"Very rarely do they suggest taking a building down," Fitzgerald said, explaining the study would identify potential uses and options to preserve and utilize the Town Hall for community events such as plays and dances.
Selectman Scott Champagne moved to authorize Fitzgerald to work with NNC and the CDBG process on the grant application; Selectman Brian Higgins seconded the motion and "all were in favor." The motion authorizes the Historical Society to proceed with application work and for staff to coordinate logistics.
The Historical Society and members of the Lions Club told the board the Town Hall already serves community programming and that a feasibility study would provide usable recommendations for future use. The board did not set a timeline for the study or a vote to accept the grant if awarded; next steps are administrative coordination and submission of the application.
