Committee members reviewed and confirmed a series of community events and conference opportunities scheduled over the coming months.
Committee member (S3) said Memorial Hall has been reserved for a Small Business Saturday vendor show on Nov. 28 and that Santa Day is set for Dec. 5. "I have secured the Memorial Hall for November 28 the Small Business Saturday vendor show," the member said. Taste of Washburn was listed for April 10 next year.
Summer programming was discussed: a concert tied to the Victor Wallin summer concert series will be held July 20 (moved indoors to Memorial Hall this year because of heat) and the final concert series date noted was Aug. 11. The committee confirmed the golf scramble is booked for Aug. 25 with registration at 4 p.m. and a 4:30 p.m. start; members discussed sponsorships and how to allocate proceeds.
Members also discussed Halloween activities: because Halloween falls on Saturday this year, the committee plans to hold the candy caravan on Friday to align with business hours and proposed a trunk-or-treat arrangement with a local church handling separate activities. Volunteers were mentioned by name as key supports; Committee member (S2) publicly thanked EMS, fire, law enforcement and volunteer groups for recent assistance after a local outage.
No formal votes were required to list or confirm most dates; the committee plans follow-up on sponsorships and volunteer coordination.
