Stockton council authorizes application for county park grant ahead of Aug. 29 deadline

The resolution (2025‑69) directs the borough to seek matching funds for Stockton Borough Park improvements and authorizes the use of Collier Engineers to prepare the application. According to the resolution text, the borough “desires to further the public interest by obtaining a matching grant of $150,000” and commits to providing a 25% cash match. The resolution also notes the application deadline is Aug. 29, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. The document included language that “Grant Requests Can Be Submitted Up to a Maximum of $100,000”; the county will determine final award amounts. Borough Attorney Lisa Maddox said the resolution provides for park improvements identified in Stockton’s 2021 Park Master Plan. The council voted to approve the resolution; the minutes record the roll call in favor as Brown, Fisher, Folz, Hunt, Mann and Meltzer (Ayes: 5, Nays: 0). Mayor Lipsen then retook the chair after the vote.
Next steps: the borough will complete and submit the County application by the Aug. 29, 2025 deadline; the Hunterdon County Open Space Trust Fund will review the submission and determine completeness and award level. The resolution states the borough will secure any additional funding needed if the county award is less than requested and agrees to comply with applicable federal, state and local rules in project performance.
