Staff told the commission that the Buzzards Bay Coalition is under contract to buy a roughly 350‑acre parcel adjacent to the Maple Springs Wildlife Management Area and has applied for a $1,000,000 Community Preservation Committee grant toward a $4.2 million purchase. The parcel is largely cranberry bogs and extends toward Route 25 near the dog park and Maple Springs.
Commissioners agreed to put an item on a future agenda to discuss whether the town should take the conservation restriction (CR) on the property if CPA funds are awarded and the purchase goes forward. The staff contact noted the CPC submission had just arrived and recommended the item appear on the next commission agenda for initial consideration.
